I want to share with you a story about John.
I hope he feels me thinking of him, as he's been on my mind this week.. John was working on a Emirates Round the World trip with an ex-coworker I miss dearly, in short after 6 months it wasn't working out between them. I was the only one in the office who understood RTW. At this point, his date of departure is a few weeks and nothing was booked. John, suffered a stroke and had a hard time to focus or read. In a few days after several emails with EK I was upfront with him and told him it won't work out and to experience First Class with EK he had to do Toronto to Dubai another time and I gave him options with Star Alliance and One World. He took Star Alliance in First Class and experienced Singapore and Lufthansa and he was content.
His #mustvisit were New Zealand, Tokyo, Sydney, Paris and of course Antonella, MOI, can't never keep my lips closed or thoughts to myself, so I told him to add South Africa. He asked me why, I replied it's a beautiful country and I truly believe you will enjoy a Safari as he was travelling alone. By end week, his whole trip was booked. On the day of departure he sends me an email he might need to cancel, his daughter is in the hospital. Talk about getting another stroke 😊 two hours before departure he sends me an email on the way to the airport...
He wrote to me a few times while he was on this fantastic journey which he expressed that after his stroke he felt he worked hard in his life and truly wanted to do this for himself... The story which remains in me; he was on the Safari at Shambala Reserve in South Africa 3 hours away from Johannesburg which I have sent two wonderful women who travel for business but always add pleasure and to my Jetsetters, so I knew it was a great place. I discovered it while I was vacationing in Joburg at the #muststays Saxon Hotel there was a brochure about Shambala Reserve.
He writes and I wish I printed the email: " Antonella, last night I had the most amazing evening, I was the only guest in house and I was in my bathrobe just outside my room, and I see a staff member and I asked him something and he invited me for dinner and drinks, I said, I am in my bathrobe, he replied who cares, and there I was with the whole staff at Shambala having dinner and drinks in my bathrobe!!! It will be a moment I will never forget and it's been the best night ever and I loved this place, look at the elephants I saw today!"
I spoke to him once after and never heard from him again. I hope John is doing better today and enjoy more travels and not just working, as life is short.
My dad said to me," Antonella, your investments are in the closet and THE WORLD". Closet he must be happy since I work at home I don't have the amount of clothes I used to but THE WORLD I will always invest.
My dear travelers we all get along because we love to travel, travel, travel. Keep on and hope John knows I'm thinking of him today.
